Twenty-nine student-athletes named to academic honor roll

ANNVILLE, Pa. --- Twenty-nine Lycoming College student-athletes have been named to the Middle Atlantic States Collegiate Athletic Conference 2009 spring Academic Honor Roll. The honor roll comprises those student-athletes of sophomore class standing or higher who participated in a varsity-level sport and registered a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 (4.00 scale) or higher and completed the playing season in good standing.

Two Warriors held the highest GPAs in their respective sports, while four other Warriors followed closely behind in second. Sophomores Kevin Pfister (Toms River, N.J.) of the men's lacrosse team and Bobby Brown (Montoursville, Pa.) of the men’s tennis team were the top GPA holders in the conference. The following student-athletes held the second-highest GPA in their respective sport: Nate Walter (Harrisburg, Pa.) for men's lacrosse, Phillip Shannon (Cogan Station, Pa.) for men's tennis, Rebecca Spencer (Granville Summit, Pa.) for softball and Robert Wentzel (Halifax, Pa.) for men's golf.

Women’s lacrosse had the most student-athletes named to the honor roll with nine, paced by Bri Robertson (Brechin, ONT), who was fourth in the conference. Five men’s tennis players earned the honors, while four women’s tennis and four men’s lacrosse student-athletes made the honor roll. Softball and golf had with three apiece.
