GRANTHAM, Pa. --- The Lycoming College men’s swimming team fell to Messiah College 148-113 on Saturday, Dec. 12. Sophomore Joseph Andrie took first-place finishes in the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke.
The loss drops Lycoming to 1-5 on the season and 1-3 in the Middle Atlantic Conference while Messiah improves to 2-4 on the year and 2-2 in the MAC.
Andrie (Reedsville, Pa./Indian Valley) took the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:05.44. He was followed by freshman Drew Miller (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport Area) with a time of 1:06.95. Andrie again snagged the top-spot in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:25.39, and was again followed by Miller with a time of 2:28.01.
Freshman Ben Hitchcock grabbed a top finish in the 200-yard backstroke, stopping the clock in 2:09.74. John Kitner (Great Mills, Md./Great Mills) took third in the event with a time of 2:15.59. Hitchcock (Newark, Del./Newark)also took two second-place finishes, one in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 57.59 and another in the 400-yard individual medley, touching the wall in 4:42.99.
Kitner also took two second-place finishes, completing the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 23.18 and the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 57.82.
In the distance events, Myles Biggs (Easton, Pa./Easton Area) took first in the 1,000-yard freestyle, touching in 11:13.80. Joseph Kuder (Moorestown, Pa./Moorestown) took second in the event, stopping the clock at 11:35.19. Biggs also took a second place in the 500-yard freestyle setting a 5:25.95 pace.
The Warriors are off for a month until they return to Williamsport for a MAC meet with Lebanon Valley College on Saturday, Jan. 16. The first event is set for 1 p.m.
