WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Men’s lacrosse senior faceoff specialist Mike Doherty has been Lycoming College’s Warrior of the Week for March 8.

Doherty was a force at the faceoff spot this week, winning 83.3 percent (30-of-36) of his draws, including going 24-of-25 against Elmira College. Against Dickinson, Doherty won 16 faceoffs, despite going against three different opponents. In the two games, he picked up 25 groundballs, including 19 against Elmira, second-most in a game in the program’s history, while also scoring two goals on three shots.

The Warriors suffered a tough 12-5 at the hands of the Dickinson Red Devils on Wednesday, March 3. Lycoming picked up a 15-8 victory over Elmira on Saturday, March 6 for the Warriors’ second win of the season.

Doherty is a criminal justice major with a minor in political science.

Lycoming’s sports information office will announce a Warrior of the Week throughout the 2009-10 academic year. The athletes will be featured on the homepage of the athletics Web site at athletics.lycoming.edu.
